Celebrities without teeth.

These never get old...

Trucking along...

We're still here...

Still trucking right along...

We've been going to church - and sporting little, baby, piggy tails!

We've been going to school...

JJ got up one morning and saw his toolbox in his toy room.

He remembered a small piece of wood he had and dug it out.

He told me he was going to put his name on it so everyone would know he lives here.

He came home from school and, without saying a single word, did just that.

It's currently sitting on our front porch right next to the door.

We've been enjoying the breeze and the nice weather...

We've been sporting new towels...

JJ's got a couple poncho towels.

He has been nice enough to share them with Shelby.

And then she starts feeling like queen of the universe.

So I decided to order the kids some fun new towels.

JJ's, of course, had to have superheroes.

One of Shelby's transforms her into the Little Mermaid.

She was in. heaven.

We've been having family time...

We still go out to eat with my parents pretty much every Friday.

This week, we also went by the firehouse in town for their Safety Fair.

Sitting in the drivers seat of one of the fire engines was a special treat.

The world keeps spinning and time keeps marching on.

We're just trying like heck to hold on!

But having fun every step of the way.

The Birthday Post

Throwing a birthday party can be exhausting and involve a LOT of prep work.

Throwing 2 parties in the same day is insanity.

Throwing 2 parties a mere 3 hours after the first soccer game of the season is just plain wackadoo.

So let's go over my wackadoo day, shall we? 

The week of the party I meant to blog.

I really did...

It's just I was SUPER busy getting everything ready.

Last Saturday came and we started the day bright and early for the first soccer game of JJ's second season! Of course, running through the tunnel was his favorite part - AGAIN.

We made it to half-time before the rain forced us all home.

And caused me to completely panic because I was expecting 10 sweet, little kiddos and a bounce house that afternoon.

But, the rain moved on through and we were finally able to set everything up out back for JJ's first ever "friends" party.

He has a small kindergarten class, so he invited everyone...which we would have anyway, but the fact that it's a small class made everything so much easier :)

We also invited some other sweet friends and ended up with 10.

We went with a superhero themed party.

Capes and masks were provided...

Batman piñata watched over the goodie bags...until he was (literally) decapitated and his head worn and marched around the backyard by candy crazy little people.

The snacks...which no one hardly touched...because they were too busy playing :)

The main event.

The big show.

The place JJ spent the ENTIRE day and night.

The friends started arriving and those tiny tornadoes never stopped moving.

Not a single one of them.

After fun was had by all, it was time to gear up for the family party.

The cake arrived....EEEK!!!!

And one for my Momo, since we were holding JJ's party on her actual birthday...

This was her reaction when I told her that her FAVORITE grandchild got her a cake.

Laughing right in my face.

Not cool, Momo...you know it's true. ;)

There's an Iron Man cake topper, which looked pretty sweet with all the flames.

We had our traditional weenie roast, glow sticks, and lots of fun.

Then everyone got cleaned up and went to bed.

I think we each lasted an average of 2.8 seconds before falling into deep, deep sleeps.

Not gonna lie, getting up for church the next day was painful.

Monday came - the ACTUAL birthday!

My crazy little kid is SIX years old!

He was especially excited to take birthday treats to his class.

We got to school and as soon as we rounded the corner into his classroom, all his friends began screaming HAPPY BIRTHDAY and he. was. in. heaven!

I secretly sorta hated it, because this is his first birthday I didn't spend the whole day with him.

Sheesh, this is all flying by at record speed.

Kindergarten. Six years old. 

I'm not sure how much more I can take.

He came home with a crown, which means it was a pretty awesome day.

It was a full and fun weekend that turned into a week long recovery :)

Back to School

The end of the second week of school is a perfectly appropriate time to recap going back to school...right? Right.

This year, before school started, we attended an open house for JJ.

We took all his school supplies in so that the first day of school was easy peasy.

Before we knew it, the summer was officially over and we spent one last day in the pool before school started the next morning. 

And then just like that...boom.

Kindergarten. 

I really like the idea I've seen floating around online of kids wearing the same size shirt every year as school starts to show how much they've grown. Typically, they say the year the kid should graduate high school...we chose to use a shirt that meant a little more to us...

JJ insists he wants to work with his dad someday.

So, of course, an Underwood Ammo shirt was in order.

JJ spends ONE DAY at school, then comes home and starts writing his name all over the concrete by the pool. Just boom...a light switch went off and all of a sudden he enjoys writing his name. 

Crazy.

So we spend the time after the first day of school in the pool.

And until today, I think that was the last time we were in the pool.

Summer got cold all of a sudden.

We're soaking up this heatwave while we can!

I'm going to miss it.

Heading outside and floating around from the pool, to chalk art, back to the pool, eating snacks in the shade, waiting for Daddy to get off work so we can show off our new tricks...

It makes me sad to hear parents get so excited about sending their kids back to school, not being able to wait to get them out of the house again.

I live for this stuff.

Days like this are the laziest, best days I could hope for. 

Whether or not some of those days make me want to drink myself into oblivion is completely irrelevant ;)

LOL Wednesday

We're still struggling to find a rhythm.

School, soccer, homework, bath and bedtime...the days just slip away from me faster and faster with every passing moment.

We'll get there. 

I hope...

I'm one of those people that plans for hilarious halloween costumes year 'round.

This is awesome.

I mean...awesome.

The Rest of the Summer

Ok, the best way to jump back on the blogging train is to fast-forward.

Thus, I'm submitting the rest of our summer through pictures.

There, I'm caught up on all the pictures in my computer.

There's still a ridiculous amount on my phone, so another mass update may be in order...

But still...I feel more caught up now.

As you can tell, we had a great summer.

Not nearly as long or as hot as I wanted it to be.

We were still swimming in September last year.

But, I'll take what I can get.

Some long, hot months enjoying the pool with two of my favorite people.

Oh, and in case you were wondering...the butterfly survived :)
